We're John and Joseph Donovan, a father-and-son team working together from our studio in New Orleans. In 2025 we came together to create a space where we can pursue our craft and build something together.
⠀
Our work ranges from functional pieces such as tableware and field tile, to more sculptural decorative objects which are informed by our personal artistic practices. Our bread-and-butter is small and medium batch production for restaurants and homes, but we're always branching out and trying new things for the love of the craft.
⠀
We're proud to be here in New Orleans, a city with a truly unique creative community and long history of uplifting artists and their craft. There's really nothing else like it.

John’s journey with clay began at age five, spending summers in a pottery studio. He later taught at several universities and created work for restaurants and galleries nationwide. His proudest achievement is founding Donovan Ceramics with his son, Joseph.

Introduced to clay by his father, John, Joseph brings a design-driven approach to tile. While studying graphic design, he apprenticed at a New Orleans tile studio—experiences that shaped his fascination with function and design in ceramics.
